Tonight I want to draw your attention to the person of Jesus Christ who is the Light and the reason that we have the power to dispel darkness.

I want to talk practically about the Light of Christ. Are we paying attention to the light, to what it can do and how it works? We Friends ought to understand the concept of light more than any other religious denominations because we have called ourselves the “Friends of the Light”.

Part I—Tuesday

Amahoro, peace to you! It is so good to be here among you. I consider Oregon to be my second home, and it is always good to come home.

I am given the task this week of testifying to the active and working Light of Christ in our world. It is an important task and one that brings me joy. But I find I cannot talk about being the Light of Christ without talking about facing darkness. So, if you will permit me, tonight I will talk about facing darkness as children of the Light, and tomorrow night I will share more about being Light bearers.

¡Buenas tardes, Amigos! Estoy tan contento de estar con ustedes en nuestras sesiones de la Junta Anual del Noroeste. Me llamo Colin Saxton y yo sirvo como Superintendente general. Así que aquí esta mi ayudante Ken Comfort, pastor en la iglesia Amigos de Reedwood, que servirá como nuestro traductor.

Now, that is as much Spanish as I will attempt this evening. Unfortunately, I am like most people born & raised in the US & only know one language. Sort of sad, isn’t it? I’m pretty positive we won’t be speaking English in heaven…& if I have as much trouble learning that language as I have others…I am going to miss out on a whole bunch of announcements at least early on. I can see it now…I’ll be the only “lost” guy wandering around heaven…
